Duggan & Silva


José Nelson, born in 1958, graduated as an attorney in 1983, and is currently a partner with Hope, Duggan & Silva, a law firm based in Buenos Aires. Nelson practices Corporate Law, M & A, Foreign Investments and Equine Law.

As such Nelson has advised numerous international clients in acquisitions and investments in different sectors of the economy including some of the most recognized international names in oil & gas, gambling and racing regulations and operations and project finance.

As an Equine Law practitioner Nelson has advised clients in South American and throughout the world in different transactions related to international simulcasting, sponsorship, sale and shuttle of stallions, horses in training, the purchase and sale of South American breeding rights and partnerships.

Nelson has been a full member of the Board of the Jockey Club Argentino, President of the Argentine Stud Book, President of the Argentina Graded Stakes Committee and Steward of the San Isidro Racetrack. He has represented Argentina in different international conferences and written articles of various topics of racing.

Nelson continues a small but successful breeding and ownership operation with his brother, including breeding and racing in Argentina and Uruguay. Since 2013 they have also, with partners, owned a Graded Stakes winner in California.

Nelson has two daughters, Victorina (19) and Florencia (14).
