Brent Dolan
Totepool Director of Operations
Brent was born and currently resides in York in the heart of Yorkshire, England and is married for 37 years to Diane with 3 sons, Andrew, Robbie and Richie.
He has spent over 40 years working in the betting industry, beginning as a young boy on racecourses, learning tic tac and then clerking for his father who was a racecourse bookmaker
At 18, Brent joined William Hill and spent 13 years travelling the length and breadth of the UK working on course.
He then moved onto Satellite Information Services (SIS) as a racecourse representative in 1987 and took responsibly for transmitting the first ever coverage of the Irish Derby into UK betting offices in 1988.
Brent spent over 26 years with SIS in several managerial roles that encompassed providing timely pre-race and race day data to compliment picture coverage. Notably in 2001 as Racing Programme Controller, he ensured the UK betting when the Foot and Mouth crisis struck the UK.
In 2006 he headed up a Customer Service department designed to speak to all customers from the major groups to individual bookmakers. He then became Commercial Director when Phil Siers (now Chief Commercial Officer at Betfred) joined SIS.
During this period, he was instrumental in the launch of a dedicated Greyhound and Virtual Betting Channel and had responsibility for 14 daily programmes. In 2010, Brent was appointed Operations Director at SIS.
In January 2012, Brent moved onto Totepool to again work with Phil Siers.
In his time at Totepool there has been a steady growth - an increase in overall turnover of 20% and set to top £500 million in 2015, providing a record contribution to racing in the 18 months to September 2014 of £19.1m (12-months to March 2013: £12.5m), with a total payment to racing, including levy, in the 18 months to September 2014 of £37.7m (12-months to March 2013: £24.4m).
